OUR WORSHIP AND BELIEFS

SUCCESSFUL SAVIOR - We believe that God the Father, Jesus Christ His only begotten Son, and the Holy Spirit entered into an everlasting covenant (Isaiah 55:3, Jeremiah 31:31, Hebrews 13:20) to save a people chosen before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4-6) composed of every kindred, tongue, people, and nation (Revelation 5:9) and that the Lord Jesus Christ successfully obtained their eternal redemption (Hebrews 9:12), sanctified them (Hebrews 10:11), and perfected them by His one offering (Hebrews 10:14) such that we are saved, “not by works of righteousness which we have done,” (Titus 3:5) but solely by the immutable, merciful, unfailing, and unmerited grace of God alone. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:8-10).

RELATIONSHIP WITH THE RISEN CHRIST - We believe a personal relationship and daily walk with the risen Lord Jesus Christ is how disciples may experience the most abundant life possible this side of heaven. We often refer to this aspect of our discipleship as “Time Salvation.” By growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord (II Peter 3:18) and walking in obedience to His precepts (John 14:15), we are saved in manifold ways from the temporal circumstances of living in a wicked world (Acts 2:40). The church family is vitally important to our experience of salvation as disciples (Hebrews 10:25). Those of “like precious faith” (II Peter 1:1) provide love, fellowship, and comfort (John 15:17) as we sojourn through this present evil world (Galatians 1:4) as pilgrims and strangers (Hebrews 11:3, I Peter 2:11). The blessings that we have experienced in God’s house are too numerous to explain here, but they include: the forgiveness of sin by God’s grace, the fellowship of the saints, learning about heaven, immortal glory, and how we are to conduct ourselves in this sinful world; admonitions to love one another, to raise our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and regarding how we should conduct our marriages to the glory of God. Knowing more about Jesus Christ and what he has done for us enriches our lives beyond measure and we have often experienced His fellowship within the walls of Harmony church(Matthew 18:20). If you feel that something is missing in the modern religious traditions of our time, you may find what you are seeking here among us. “Come and see.” (John 1:39)

FAMILY WORSHIP - We believe the Church of Jesus Christ is of paramount importance to the family (Acts 20:28). In this sinful age in which we live, families need to be connected firmly to the Lord and His house to strengthen their marriages, to guide their children and to encourage those whose lives have been cast down by Satan and sin. As such we worship alongside our children in a multi-generational assembly eager to hear the Word of God proclaimed together.

SIMPLICITY IN CHRIST - We believe in worshipping the Lord in simplicity (II Corinthians 11:3) with singing, praying, and preaching (Ephesians 5:19, Acts 2:42, II Timothy 4:2). It is our desire to please our Lord Jesus Christ by worshipping Him in the same way that the Apostles and first disciples of Christ worshipped in the New Testament.

Come and see.
— Philip to Nathaniel, John 1:46

ARTICLES OF FAITH

The scriptures are the sole rule of faith and practice in the Lord’s New Testament Church. We therefore, are not formally bound by any uninspired creeds of faith. However, most Primitive Baptist churches do summarize their interpretation of scriptures on core principles in brief Articles of Faith. The following articles are those of Harmony Primitive Baptist Church and are similar to the articles of many other Primitive Baptist churches around the world.

1. We believe in the one true and living God: the Father, the Word and the Holy Ghost. (Matthew 3:16-17, I John 5:7, more here)

2. We believe the scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the Word of God and the only rule of faith and practice. (Deuteronomy 6:3, Matthew 4:4, I Timothy 3:16-17, I Peter 1:10-12, II Peter 1:19-21, Romans 15:4, more here)

3. We believe in the doctrine of election and that God chose His people before the foundation of the world. (Ephesians 1:4-6, Matthew 24:22:31, more here)

4. We believe in the doctrine of original sin. (Psalm 14:1, Romans 5:12, more here)

5. We believe in man's impotency to recover himself from the fallen state he is in by nature by his own free will and ability. (John 6:44, Romans 3:10-18, Romans 9:16, Ephesians 2:1, more here)

6. We believe that sinners are justified in the sight of God only by the imputed righteousness of Christ. (Romans 3:23-24, Romans 5:19, II Corinthians 5:21, Hebrews 10:14, more here)

7. We believe that God's elect shall be called, regenerated, and sanctified by the Holy Spirit. (John 5:25, Galatians 4:6, Titus 3:5, more here)

8. We believe that the saints shall be preserved in grace and never fall finally away. (John 10:27-28, Romans 8:29-30, more here)

9. We believe that Baptism and the Lord's supper are ordinances of Jesus Christ, and that true believers are the only subjects of Baptism, and that immersion is the Apostolic mode. (Matthew 28:19, John 3:22-23, John 22:17-20, Acts 8:37, more here, and here)

10. We believe that as our Lord and Savior washed His disciples feet, we ought to wash one another's feet. (John 13:14, I Timothy 5:10, more here)

11. We believe in the resurrection of the dead and in a general judgment, and that the felicity of the righteous will be eternal and the punishment of the wicked everlasting. (John 5:29, Matthew 25:34,41, more here, and here)

12. We believe a minister, one who has been regularly baptized, called, and has come under the imposition of hands by a presbytery, has the only right to administer the ordinances of the Church of Jesus Christ. (I Timothy 4:14, more here)

13. We believe that none but regularly baptized members have a right to commune at the Lord's table. (Luke 22:14, more here)
